Dr. Anders Cohen Has Remarkable Passion for Neurosurgery

Neurosurgery is a challenging field of medicine that requires outstanding skill, knowledge and devotion. In New York City, the Brooklyn Hospital Center and the St. Barnabas Hospital are proud to offer the expertise of Dr. Anders Cohen to patients suffering from a wide variety of conditions.

An alumnus of the New York Institute of Technology – College of Osteopathic Medicine, and a former Chief Resident at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Dr. Cohen presently heads the Neurosurgery Unit of the Brooklyn Hospital Center, and teaches at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He is also a member of the American Medical Association, the New York State Osteopathic Medical Society, the American Osteopathic Association, and the Cervical Spine Research Society.

A distinguished doctor in his discipline, Dr. Cohen is the epitome of an accomplished practitioner who remains highly dedicated to his craft. In fact, when Dr. Cohen is not in the hospitals performing risky surgical procedures, he is in local and international conferences, teaching colleagues how to perform the latest techniques in neurosurgery.

He specializes in conducting craniotomy or brain surgery, spinal fusion, disc surgery, and other procedures designed to treat various conditions affecting the central and peripheral nervous systems and the spinal column. These include Chiari malformation, herniated disc, lumbar spine disorders, tumors, coccydynia, and scoliosis. In addition, he is recognized for being the first neurosurgeon to perform the XLIF, AxialLIF (Trans1), dynamic rod procedures, lumbar and cervical decompression, discectomy, fusion and motion preservation techniques in the city of New York.
